How fortunate we are that Fashion Week comes the month before it’s time to dress up in otherworldly garb for a night of devious party-hopping and candy-hunting. The spring ‘10 runway was chock-full of creative Halloween costume inspiration from one fashion capital to the next. Zombies, witches, ghouls, and mystical beings sashayed their boney frames for the world to see. And while we won’t be purchasing a real Gareth Pugh for the 31st anytime soon, we’re happy to justify our DIY attempts with these spooky high fashion statements.

They say you can’t keep a good woman down, and that is definitely true of the zombie crowd. A severe smokey eye, some torn-up skirts, a nice off-center stagger, and you’ll be the poster girl of post-mortem ferocity.

Here is a bag that looks way better being walked around, it has a total young hip vibe if you dress it down and maybe even a little frayed (I don’t do ripped jeans but that’s the idea). As a matter of fact, this strategy is a great way to fight the recession. You get a really great bag like this, or another one that is slightly serious (but it has to be classic) and you dress like a bum and voila you are now super model Agyness Deyn. Although the price of this might be counter indicative to my plan. It has a really cool engineered look with the chunky hardware, which I normally do not like, but it is working for me because it isn’t all over and the balls make it feminine, whereas if they were nuts and bolts a la Zac Posen then it isn’t. Despite the fact that, as we reported last month, Louis Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs is getting sick of the fashion house’s frequent collaboration projects, director Sofia Coppola has just signed on to design a new capsule collection for the brand. Coppola, a close friend of Jacobs’ who recently appeared in a Vuitton ad (above) with her famed father Francis Ford Coppola, will reportedly create a range of handbags and shoes for the company. Though nothing’s been confirmed, it’s expected that the new collection will initially only be available in Japan like LV’s current collaboration with Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo.
